Durham Regional Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Oshawa during which people were at home at the time.

Police said they were called to a house fire on Sunday at 5:10 a.m. in the area of Eddystone Path and Okanagan Path.

The occupants of the home were able to get out safely and there were no injuries. The Ontario Fire Marshal is treating the fire as suspicious.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN SEX ASSAULT PROBE

Toronto Police are asking for help locating a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

On Dec. 14, 2023, police were called to a sexual assault in the Royal York Rd. and Mimico Ave. area.

Police said the victim met the suspect on a dating app in June 2021. They dated for a couple of months before the victim ended the relationship.

On Aug. 6, 2021, the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted in their home.

Alistair Olumuide Salako, 41, of Toronto is wanted for sexual assault, break-and-enter and unlawfully being in a dwelling. He is 6-foot with a medium build.

Police said they believe there may be more victims.

MAN DIES IN 2-VEHICLE CRASH

A man has died after a two-vehicle collision in North York on Sunday night.

The collision happened at 8:34 p.m. in the area of Parkway Forest Dr. and Don Mills Rd.

The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and he later died.

1 CRITICALLY INJURED AFTER VEHICLE HITS TREE

One person has life-threatening injuries after a collision that sent one vehicle into a tree Monday morning in the city’s east end.

Toronto Police were called at 6:55 p.m. to the area of Albion Rd. and Humberline Dr., where two vehicles collided.

One vehicle ended up hitting a tree and one person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

SHOTS FIRED FROM VEHICLE IN WILLOWDALE

Toronto Police are investigating after someone in a vehicle fired shots at another vehicle Monday morning in Willowdale.

Police received reports at 10:44 a.m. of shots fired in the area of Yonge St. and Empress Ave.

One of the vehicles ended up on its roof near Mel Lastman Square. A man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled in a black pickup truck with front end damage.

MAN CHARGED WITH VOYEURISM AFTER MALL INCIDENT

York Regional Police have charged a 40-year-old man with two counts of voyeurism that allegedly took place at a shopping mall in Richmond Hill.

On Wednesday, police in the area of Yonge St. and 16 Ave. were allegedly told that a suspect from previous voyeurism incidents was in the shopping centre.

On June 15 and Sept. 7, the suspect had allegedly used a hidden camera to make recordings of women.

Adam Russo, of Richmond Hill, has been charged with two counts of voyeurism.

POLICE PROBING FATAL COLLISION

Toronto Police are investigating a fatal collision during which a 68-year-old man died.

On Sunday at 8:37 p.m., police were called to a collision in the area of Don Mills Rd. and Havenbrook Blvd.

Police said a 68-year-old man was diving a black Ford Edge northbound on Don Mills and tried to make a turn westbound onto Havenbrook.

At the same time, a 20-year-old man operating a black BMW was diving southbound Don Mills and the two vehicles crashed.

The 68-year-old later died in a hospital.

DRUGS AND GUNS SEIZED

Durham Regional Police allegedly seized guns and drugs from an impaired driver in Whitby.

On Sunday at 2:40 a.m., police made a traffic stop in the area of Brock and Arthur Sts. and allegedly observed signs that the driver was impaired.

The driver was taken into custody for impaired operation and a search of the vehicle found a replica firearm, a prohibited spring-loaded knife and drugs.

Deshaun Delano Goss, 30, of Ajax, is charged with impaired operation, possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
