Porsche have insisted Emma Raducanu remains on their books despite the 21-year-old having a car taken away amid her inconsistent performances over the past few years.

The tennis star burst onto the scene back in 2021 when she defied the odds to win the US Open.

Yet injuries have often hampered Raducanu’s development in the time since, with the youngster frequently struggling to put a string of matches together.

She was criticised for her schedule after her nightmare US Open exit back in August, with the 21-year-old losing to Sofia Kenin in the first round of the tournament.

On Saturday, reports claimed Porsche had taken a car away from Raducanu amid her issues.

The Daily Mail quoted an insider as saying: “Emma no longer has a Porsche.

“They took it back, it used to have pride of place at her home.”

A spokesperson for the company also confirmed that Raducanu was ‘no longer in possession of one of its vehicles’.

They said that while they loan Raducanu a car, it is ‘very much on an ad hoc basis’.

However, the spokesperson also insisted that she remains an ambassador for the car company – while making it clear they’re ‘very happy’ with their partnership.

“Emma Raducanu is a global brand ambassador for Porsche and there have not been any changes within our successful partnership since it started in 2022,” they said.

“We are very happy with our partnership.”

Raducanu had been hoping to play in several tournaments this autumn as she looks to end the year on a high.

However, with the 21-year-old suffering with injury, she’s withdrawn from competitions such as the Beijing Open and Wuhan Open.

Meanwhile, Raducanu’s former coach Mark Petchey recently opened up on the tennis star and her problems.

He admits the youngster can be ‘stubborn’ at times but has backed her to learn from a difficult few years and rise up the rankings once again.

“I’m a big believer that you don’t really make mistakes at Emma Raducanu’s age,” he said.

“I think you make decisions and then you see solutions and that’s where we find ourselves with Emma at the moment and where she finds herself.

“I always said right after she had the fairytale run in New York that she was going to have a pretty bumpy couple of years.

“But I hoped that some things would have been different and not quite so rough for her, as I’m sure the people around her would have hoped for too.

“She’s stubborn in certain areas which is a great quality in tennis, you need that.

“You need to have a certain self-reliance; you need to be able to put things to one side and entertain thoughts that you don’t necessarily always need to implement into your game, but you must consider things.

“I’m sure she now wishes that some things had been different.

“But the reality of life is that if you find yourself at a crossroads, you need to make another decision about how you go forward from here.

“From Emma’s perspective right now, there’s no point looking back over the last couple of years overthinking, it’s all wasted energy.

“Hopefully, the bumpy ride has shown her a roadmap or a signpost of where she wants to go from here to progress as a player.”
