Max O’Leary – 6

Similar to the midweek draw against Sheffield Wednesday, O’Leary was relatively untroubled in the City net for the first half. Couldn’t do anything to stop Ollie Tanner’s strike but made a couple of key stops to deny the Bluebirds a second.

George Tanner – 6

Was caught out on a few occasions by El Ghazi on the wing when he made attacking runs forward. The visitor’s first-half chances came from City’s right side and was an area of concern when the Bluebirds took the lead. Tanner stood up to the test in the second-half, though, making a number of vital tackles and blocks.

Zak Vyner – 6

Another assured and controlled display at centre-back for Vyner, who was confident to create attacks from the backline. The defender won everything in the air and was comfortable with the ball at his feet to drive through the Cardiff midfield on a number of occasions.

Luke McNally – 6

He was the man City called upon to secure a point as he met Williams’ cross to level the scoring. It came after a difficult time for McNally appeared to lose confidence as Cardiff heaped the pressure on early in the second half. A major error after playing out from the back almost gifted the Bluebirds an opener before failing to stop Tanner for their opener.

Cam Pring – 5 (Replaced on 17 minutes)

Was withdrawn early on after a collision with Ollie Tanner in the box. The left-back was stretchered off with what appears to be quite a serious injury. When he was on the pitch, he looked lively – combining well with Mehmeti on the left on a few occasions.

Jason Knight – 6

Very good at commanding the team and looked to break on every occasion with the scores level. However, was quietened by Cardiff as the game went on and struggled to make much of an impact going forward.

Joe Williams – 7

Very good with the ball at his feet for large spells and tried to work spaces to find an opener in the first half. That continued into the second period and his delightful ball on the right found McNally for the Robins’ equaliser.

Yu Hirakawa – 6 (Replaced on 54 minutes)

Like we’ve seen from Hirakawa in recent weeks, he’s bright, bubbly and creative on the wing. That was no different this afternoon as he attempted to cut open the Cardiff defence in the first half. Was withdrawn early in the second period as Manning went in search of an equaliser.

Anis Mehmeti – 5 (Replaced on 54 minutes)

Mehmeti was influential in large attacking plays for City in the opening phases of the contest and was quite a handful for Perry NG. Like a a few other City men, they couldn’t match the level of Cardiff early in the second period and was part of the triple change.

Scott Twine – 6 (Replaced on 84 minutes)

A mixed performance from Twine who was utilised both centrally and on the wing. Had a great chance to make the score 2-1 in the second-half but his header was well blocked by Dimitrios Goutas from close range.

Sinclair Armstrong – 6 (Replaced on 54 minutes)

Armstrong could’ve been on the scoresheet after just 20 seconds after shrugging off Goutas and bending an effort just over the bar. Had the City backline up against it for the majority of the first half and should’ve fired the Robins ahead on two occasions in the opening 45 minutes.

Ross McCrorie – 6 (On at 17 minutes)

Came on after just 17 minutes for his first appearance of the season for the injured Pring. Although it was an unnatural role at left-back, the Scotland international fitted in seamlessly as matched the levels of first-team football after his hamstring injury. Caused issues going forward putting in a number of key crosses.

Max Bird – 5 (On at 54 minutes)

Came on as part of the triple change but couldn’t make as much of a desire impacted. He switched the ball out wide a number of times as City went in search of a leveller.

Mark Sykes – 7 (On at 54 minutes)

The winger is making a habit of putting in excellent cameo roles of the bench. After replacing Hirakawa, Sykes really made a positive impact on the right-wing as he used his pace to drive at Joel Bagan and put some really good balls into the box. Was up there with one of the standout performers.

Fally Mayulu – 6 (On at 54 minutes)

Some fans have called for the summer international to start in favour of Armstrong and Mayulu made a nuisance of himself when he came on as part of the triple change. The striker came close just before City found an equaliser after he hit the post following Sykes’ cross.

George Earthy – N/A (On at 84 minutes)

Looked bright after making his first appearance in more than a month.
