With a cat, a dog, and a wife with Asthma, it’s fair to say that an air purifier isn’t a bad idea for our household. We also live in a house built in 1880, so you can always rely on a bit of dust, no matter how hard you try to get rid of it.

I’ve never owned an air purifier, and I had no idea what to expect from one, other than it attempting to do what it says it will, purify the air.

After unboxing and assembling the Jerdazen JZ200 H13 HEPA Air Purifier (quite the mouthful), the first thing you notice is that it has a really decent size to it. It’s the size of a small waste bathroom bin, I’d say.

It’s very light yet sturdy design that still manages to look pretty sophisticated.

It’s quite a neutral colour and design, which allows it to fit in pretty much any room of your choice. That’s actually a big part of the flexibility of this gadget; it can be used anywhere, from a gymnasium to a kitchen, living room, or bedroom.

The area covered by this claims to be a whopping 985 square feet. There’s no real reason for me to doubt that or to know if it can do what it says.

The JZ200 has a 3-stage filtration system, with a pre-filter, True HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. The claim is that it is capable of capturing 99.97% of airborne particles.

The good thing about this system is that it gives you a visual indicator of the quality of the air where it is based. It has a neat three colour system that indicates the air quality, and the built-in filter also self-adjusts to manage the strength of service it provides based on the air in the room.

The success of any appliance or gadget is in the simplicity, and this couldn;t be easier to use with a very clear control panel that is very nicely lit with stylish LED lighting.

There are a few options on the control panel including a light, child lock, filter status, timer, sleep mode, fan speed and auto setting.

For the most part, you are best just leaving it on the auto setting and depending on the fan speed, it is pretty quiet. The high fan speed isn’t so quiet, but I’m not sure it is needed that often.

We tried leaving it on overnight in the bedroom and we were impressed with how quiet and unintrusive it was, we didn’t know it was there, to be honest.

It’s very hard to determine the effect it is having, I don’t know how long the filters will last, and perhaps as we progress the benefits will be very easy to see.

We tried it in every room in the house and the visual indicator always gave us a green return which was pretty reassuring, but it was adjusting as it went along and it looks like it knows what it is doing!

In an era where we have so much on our hands to help us lead a healthy lifestyle. This is a useful product to have in the house. One thing I am sure of is that I’d rather have a purifier filtering the air and controlling the quality than not having one doing its work.

The Jerdazen JZ200 H13 HEPA Air Purifier is available via Amazon selling for £93.11.

What buyers says on Amazon

John Violette: The advertisement on the page Shows Coverage that’s much larger than this thing is capable of. Even the manual I don’t believe is the correct coverage. I put the thing in my closet and I didn’t notice anything different.. I’m not really convinced that it even works at all..

Bob: I’m a relatively new cat parent and was annoyed by so much cat fur floating in my room. And I bought this air purifier hoping it’ll help absorb the cat fur from my lovely kittens. This air purifier actually exceeds my expectations. First of all, cat fur is caught on the surface of the air purifier, but it’s not being sucked in. So that I can collect the cat fur and store it. Maybe I can make some lovely toys with the fur I collected one day! Second, I like its intelligent air quality monitoring. Clear numbers and colors is indicating the air quality in my room. What’s more, the night mode is really quiet and won’t disturb me at night.
