Strictly Come Dancing devotees were immediately up in arms within just minutes of the third live show’s commencement tonight. As fans geared up for the anticipated Movie Week special, the hit BBC One dance extravaganza kicked things off with a Glitterball mystery presented as a light-hearted sketch casting everyone as suspects.

Yet, this opening act did not sit well with viewers who eagerly wanted to leap into the dancing action. Disgruntled tweets quickly surfaced, with one user airing their frustration: “Just. Start. The. F**king. Show. Already. #Strictly”.

Another was quick to echo the sentiment, stating: “Too much messin abaaaht at the start already! #Strictly”, while others voiced their opinions: “They always have to start movie week with a cringe cheesy VT lol. It’s basically a tradition at this point. #Strictly” and another added blunt criticism: “Not a fan of the opening bit… #Strictly! “.

The themed evening saw the professional dancers getting creative, embodying characters from the Despicable Me series. Kai Widdrington stepped into the role of Gru, the begrudging former villain and central character of the movies, whereas his fellow dancers slipped into yellow bodysuits, transforming into the well-known Minions.

Throughout the episode, both the pros and their star-studded partners captivated the audience with dances inspired by various films, complete with expertly tailored costumes to enhance their performances, reports the Mirror.

Regrettably, DIY SOS celebrity Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk had to cancel their Charleston performance to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 after Nick sustained an injury and withdrew last Friday. Following the Standard Rules attributed to Strictly, they will “receive a bye” into the forthcoming week’s show, in anticipation of his recovery.

This update follows the recent departure of Olympian Tom Dean and dance associate Nadiya Bychkova, who were the initial couple eliminated from the contest.
