Sky is keen for UK households to consider switching to its broadband service. The telecoms and TV company has not only reduced the price of its fast internet to the ‘lowest ever price‘ but is also offering a simpler way to change providers.

Sky has announced that it has now introduced the so-called “One Touch Switch” process, which means new customers simply inform Sky they want to join and the Internet Service Provider (ISP) takes care of the rest.

There’s no need for the new customer to contact their current internet provider as everything is transferred smoothly with one call. One Touch Switch is a fresh industry-wide initiative from Ofcom aimed at simplifying the supplier transfer process for consumers.

It was supposed to be implemented last month but, due to technical issues, many providers have had to delay the launch. Sky stated it is fully committed to the update and has even initiated a dedicated 24/7 switching support service to assist with queries and resolve problems, reports the Express.

Customers making the switch can speak to an agent by phone between 8am and 8pm, or use the online chat feature from 8pm to 8am for “round-the-clock” support. If the idea of switching is appealing, there’s a new deal offering its Full Fibre 500 package at Sky’s lowest ever price.

Those who sign up before October 23 will pay £29 per month. It’s a competitive offer with BT currently charging £34.99 for slower 300Mbps speeds. Amber Pine, the Managing Director of Connectivity at Sky Broadband, enthusiastically shared with customers: “We know switching broadband providers is a big decision for our customers, so we’re making it easier than ever.”

She further emphasised Sky’s commitment to service by adding: “As the UK’s only major provider with a 24/7 broadband switching support service, we can help with round-the-clock questions about your Sky Broadband or even change your Full Fibre installation date in the early hours of the morning.”

In a market that’s bustling with options, Sky isn’t the sole company boasting the One Touch Switch feature, thus shoppers currently have the prime opportunity to hunt for the best offers. For those pondering over their choices, here’s a rundown of some of the top high-speed internet plans from alternative suppliers.

Sky broadband tempts with 500Mbps speeds at just £29 per month, while BT’s £34.99 price offers only 300Mbps. Virgin Media however, charges £33.99 a month for a 500Mbps speed plan and TALKTALK is slightly more at £35 per month for its 500Mbps plan.
