Fans of Strictly Come Dancing were taken aback when Chris McCausland debuted a dramatic transformation during the show. Saturday (October 5) saw the beloved BBC One programme return for the Movie Week special, dazzling the audience with cinematic flair.

Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned to greet the competing celebrities as they graced the dance floor once again.

The previous week had seen Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova leave the competition first after going head-to-head with Toyah Wilcox and Neil Jones in the dance-off. This time, celebrities including JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, and Shayne Ward returned to impress with their latest routines.

Judging panel royalty Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke provided their expert opinions on the night’s performances. Channelling the spirit of iconic films through the years, the contestants transformed into various movie characters, kicked off by a Despicable Me themed group performance by the professionals.

However, it was Chris who caught everyone’s attention, clad as he was in an outfit from Wayne’s World, performing alongside his partner Dianne Buswell to the film’s theme song in a jive that impressed many. But the transformation also made fans take a second look, as many noticed a resemblance between Chris and singer Lewis Capaldi, reports the Mirror.

Viewers shared their reactions on X, which was formerly known as Twitter, with one user exclaiming: “Chris and Dianne were amazing.”

Viewers were full of praise for Chris’s performance on Strictly Come Dancing, with one particularly impressed fan commenting: “Honestly I’m so impressed with Chris here I’ve never seen a man who is blind that can dance it is actually brilliant. The costume is amazing. I didn’t recognise Chris here he looks like Lewis Capaldi.”

Another viewer agreed, saying: “That’s what I said. Lewis Capaldi, 100%.”

A third remarked: “When they sub in Lewis Capaldi on Strictly.”

Meanwhile, another fan wrote admiringly: “Chris looks like Lewis Capaldi in that wig. Well done fella! Brilliant! ” The duo’s dance gained appreciation from the judges too, with Craig Revel-Horwood calling their performance “packed full of fantastic rhythm.”

In the end, Chris and Dianne scored a noteworthy 30 from the judging panel.
