A Donegal man who was killed in a workplace incident in Australia has been named locally as Barry Breslin.
Barry Breslin (35) from Straleel, Kilcar, is believed to have been killed after he was struck by an excavator while working in Perth.
According to the West Australian news outlet, he sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital but passed away a short time later.
Mr Breslin was a father of one and had been living in Australia for a number of years.
The death notice for Mr Breslin reads, “The tragic death has occurred of Barry Breslin following an accident in Perth, Australia.
“Beloved father to his son Tommy.
“Sadly missed by his loving Fiancée, Melissa, his parents Mary and Seamus, his brothers Owen (Beth & Hazel) and Shane (Gerard).
“House private until further notice.”
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
A tribute from his local GAA club in Kilcar said the community is in shock following Mr Breslin’s passing.
“CLG Chill Chartha would like to express our sincerest condolences to Barry’s Fiancée Melissa, his son Tommy, his parents Seamus and Mary, to his brothers Owen and Shane and to all his family and his many, many friends.
“It was a great shock to us all when the news reached us this morning of the untimely passing of Barry in Australia.
“Barry played underage for the club for many years and is fondly remembered by the players and all who were involved at the time and to his mother Mary, a tireless volunteer and supporter of our club over the years, our hearts go out to you and your family and we pass on our prayers to you all at this sad time.”
