Police were called to an incident on a Ryanair flight from Morocco to Edinburgh after a “disturbance” onboard. The flight, which landed in the early hours of Tuesday morning, October 2, was boarded by officers as a 29-year-old woman was removed and subsequently charged.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, the passenger was allegedly ‘verbally abusive’ to cabin crew members. It’s also claimed that she sparked a heated argument with airline staff over lighting in the aircraft, which escalated and resulted in police intervention on the runway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “We were made aware of a disturbance on a flight arriving at Edinburgh Airport on the morning of Tuesday, 1 October, 2024.”

They added: “A 29-year-old woman was charged in connection and was given a Recorded Police Warning.”

A Ryanair spokesperson commented: “The crew of this flight from Marrakesh to Edinburgh (30 September) called ahead for police assistance after a passenger became disruptive onboard”, reports Edinburgh Live.

They continued: “The aircraft was met by local police upon arrival at Edinburgh and this passenger was removed. This is now a matter for local police.”
