The man arrested on scene earlier this week in the slayings of a mother and daughter in Courtice has been identified as an ex-boyfriend.

Durham Regional Police said Katrina Zwolinski, 30, and Laurie Crew, 67, were found dead by officers after a wellness check at a home on Moulton Crt. at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cops said the women were found with obvious signs of trauma.

The man arrested was Zwolinski’s ex-boyfriend, Durham cops said on Thursday night.

The child, meanwhile, has been identified as Zwolinski’s son and the grandson of Crew. Police said the child wasn’t injured.

Michael Belhu, 33, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Neighbours told a Sun reporter earlier this week that police have been to the home multiple times, allegedly to respond to arguments.

“Honestly, it’s really sad, a sad situation,” said Lucia. “Thought whatever was going on had been dealt with.”
