Big Brother hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu have thrown the show into turmoil, both struck down by sickness. The duo, at the helm of the reality TV sensation on ITV2, are grappling with health woes just before the curtain rises on Sunday, October 6.
Will has let slip that AJ is battling a bout of laryngitis, while he himself is contending with a “stiff neck”, leaving them racing against time to recover for their sophomore season presenting the programme, reports the Mirror.
In a candid admission, Will revealed he’s seeking urgent physiotherapy for his neck, confessing his jitters about living up to expectations for the upcoming live launch.
He commented: “It’s always good to just before the biggest show of the year, when you’re going to be live for six weeks, with all kinds of mad stuff, to not be able to move.”
During a chat with Capital Breakfast’s Jordan North, Chris Stark, and Sian Welby, Will elaborated on his condition.
When Jordan probed about his neck issue, asking “So yeah you’ve got a sore neck you were saying?”, Will replied: “I have yeah, I’ve got a stiff neck. It’s a bit better today, yesterday was bad, I’ve got an emergency physio in a couple of hours after this.
“It’s always good to just before the biggest show of the year, when you’re going to be live for six weeks, with all kinds of mad stuff, to not be able to move. So I’m sorry Chris I can’t really look at you [laughs], you’re on the wrong side.”
Sian light-heartedly remarked, “That’s why we got you a spinny chair, so you can move your whole body,” to which Will humorously responded, “I can just present the live show on one of these!”
Addressing another co-host’s situation, Jordan observed, “AJ’s lost her voice as well…” to which Will elaborated, “AJ’s lost her voice as well, yeah sorry, I saw her yesterday, we did a podcast record. That’s why she’s not doing radio today!”
Then, sharing his anticipations about the live show, the presenter opened up about his nerves yet conveyed his eagerness for the return of Big Brother.
He said: “Yeah of course I get nervous, because, I love this show so much, so I’m nervous that we’re going to do it justice, the format justice, I’m nervous how the housemates will do, but once we get to Sunday, just before we go live, the nerves sort of disappear. I can’t wait to meet these people.”
