A 38-year-old Toronto woman is facing mischief charges related to demonstrations at a private function and a private business.
In a news release issued on Wednesday, Toronto Police said an awards ceremony was underway at a hotel in the Yorkville Ave.-Bay St. area at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2023, when police alleged that the accused and other demonstrators accessed a private function using forged documents.
Police alleged that demonstrators jumped on the stage, interrupting the awards, before they were escorted off the premises.
On March 7, police attended a demonstration at a private business in the Eglinton Ave. E.-Yonge St. area.
Police alleged that the suspect and other demonstrators entered a private building and prevented an employee from entering her place of work. Cops said the accused wore a medical mask to conceal her identity while taking part in the demonstration.
Police said the employee left the area allegedly fearing for her safety.
Rachelle Friesen, 38, has been charged with disguise with intent and two counts of mischief.

MAN WANTED FOR EAST-END STABBING
An unidentified man is sought for a stabbing in the city’s east end.
In a news release issued on Wednesday, Toronto Police said officers responded at about 2:25 a.m. to a call for a stabbing in the Danforth Ave.-Greenwood Ave. area.
Police said the alleged victim and accused were at a restaurant in the area, stepped outside and got into an altercation when the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with an edged weapon.
The victim went back inside to seek help and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is 5-foot-9 to 6-foot with short hair. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, black shoes and a dark baseball hat.

MAN CHARGED IN SUSPECTED HATE-MOTIVATED ASSAULTS
A 27-year-old Mississauga man is accused of assaulting three people and making anti-Asian comments inside a downtown office building.
Toronto Police said officers responded on Tuesday at 11:51 a.m. to a call for an unwanted guest at an office building in the Wellesley and Yonge Sts. area.
Police alleged that the accused went to the building, assaulted the trio, made anti-Asian comments and uttered threats to one of the victims.
Police said one of the alleged victims suffered minor injuries.
Nei Sa has been charged with three counts of assault and uttering threats of death/bodily harm.

COPS HUNTING SUSPECT IN LIQUOR THEFTS
Peel Regional Police want the public’s help in tracking down a 38-year-old man wanted in connection with dozens of LCBO thefts.
Police said that between October 2023 and September, 90 thefts were allegedly committed at LCBO stores in Peel Region with about $160,000 in merchandise taken.
Awil Hassan Abdi, of no fixed address, is wanted on two outstanding warrants with charges including theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.
Police said he is encouraged to seek legal counsel and turn himself in.
