The former Park Inn Hotel in Belfast will reopen as a Moxy Hotel next year in an £8m investment bringing 60 new jobs, its new owner has announced.
Irish business MHL Hotel Collection finalised its purchase of the property on Clarence Street West in September.
And it confirmed that plans are progressing to turn it into a Moxy Hotel, one of Marriott Bonvoy’s 31 brands.
It is to open in summer next year.
It will be known as Moxy Belfast City, the first Moxy Hotel in Northern Ireland, with the transformation and rebrand costing around £8m, the company said. It will feature a branded bar, Bar Moxy.

Paul Higgins, partner at MHL Hotel Collection, said: “We are delighted to have signed contracts with Marriott International to bring a Moxy Hotel to Belfast.
“We are excited to have a presence in Belfast and Northern Ireland and look forward to the coming months as we prepare to launch Moxy Belfast City.
“We are also looking forward to building relationships with local businesses, organisations and of course creating up to 60 full and part-time roles in the hotel when we open next summer.”
The company said that Moxy Hotels “challenge the status quo on traditional and transactional hotel stays in Europe – from checking in at the bar with a complimentary cocktail or mocktail to focusing on social spaces from morning to night”.
“With each of its hotels, Moxy aims to be at the social heart of the destination, sparking local community engagement and connection between business and leisure travellers, as well as locals,” it said.
“The animated brand combines stylish, industrial design and sociable service at an affordable price point, so that guests can save on space and splurge on experiences.”
There are 89 Moxy Hotels in operation across 18 destinations.
MHL Hotel Collection is the largest Marriott franchisee in Ireland and owns The College Green Hotel Dublin, Autograph Collection, formerly The Westin Dublin, Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa and Moxy Dublin City.
The collection also includes InterContinental Dublin, Hilton Dublin City, The Morgan Hotel, Brooks Hotel, The Trinity City Hotel and The Spencer Hotel. It also owns hotels in Limerick and Galway.
