A South Bristol art trail returns to the city this weekend. Art on the Hill will feature more than 70 artists, in addition to pupils at Victoria Park Primary School and St Mary Redcliffe Primary School. The event takes place at 30 locations in the area between Saturday (Oct 5) and Sunday, from 11am-5pm.
Artists have created works using a range of media – from ceramics and paint, to fashion, jewellery and textiles, photography, glass, wood, and more. Those following the trail will not only be able to see and interact with art from local people, but buy any pieces that take their fancy.
It’s organised by volunteers and sponsored by estate agent Boardwalk, which will provide professional trail signs resembling those seen outside properties.
Local artists on the trail, musicians, poets and dancers will perform at Windmill Hill Community Centre on Saturday afternoon, followed by a free ‘Nearly Unplugged’ evening concert, from 7.30-10pm. Arts and crafts workshops will take place on both days, allowing visitors to get stuck into everything arty.
Refreshments will be on sale around the trail (find a trail map via this link) – from Latino Street Bites, Feral Folk Coffee and Victoria Park Pub, to fundraising cafes at St Michael & All Angels’ Church and The Old Vicarage. Both schools taking part in the event will offer refreshments on Saturday.
Art on the Hill is holding a raffle featuring prizes, including a £100 voucher for Friction Cycles, coffee and cake at local cafes, and a tour of Wogan Coffee roastery. Tickets are £1 each and are available from the Information Point at Windmill Hill Community Centre throughout the weekend.
