A man from Bristol who drove through a picturesque Wiltshire village dressed in a balaclava and body armour has been fined after police found a knuckleduster in his car. Zaveian Brown was stopped by police in Box Hill, in the village of Box, near Bath, back on June 13.
Officers said they were responding to reports that a man had been dealing drugs in the Corsham area, and pulled Brown’s car over on the A4 heading back towards Bath. The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to having an offensive weapon and appeared before magistrates in Swindon on Tuesday October 1.
Brown, from Kensington Park in Easton, was fined £692 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £277 with another £85 in costs. PD Adam Neish, from Wiltshire police, said: “We were responding to reports that a man had been dealing drugs in the Corsham area matching Brown’s description.
“We stopped him in his vehicle and found him to be dressed in a balaclava and body armour. When we carried out a search of his vehicle a knuckleduster was found in the passenger door. A knuckleduster is designed to cause injury and is banned under the Offensive Weapon Act 2019.
“I’d like to reassure the local community that proactive officers will continue to carry out stop and searches in the area and action their concerns as effectively as possible,” he added.
