A child and a baby were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while an adult was rushed to a hospital via an emergency run after a vehicle allegedly struck several pedestrians in Etobicoke early Wednesday night.

Toronto Police said on the social-media site X that a vehicle allegedly struck pedestrians in the Islington and Orrell Aves. area at 6:11 p.m.

The driver remained at the scene.

Police originally said the extent of the injuries was not immediately known, but followed up by saying the child, baby and adult were all taken to hospital.

The ages of those involved were not immediately known.

Area roads remained closed and motorists were urged to use alternate routes.
