TK Maxx, with its extensive selection of fashion and homeware items, has seen dozens of customers looking for one particular candle. It’s fair to say the quirky item might cause a few double takes as it looks nothing like a typical candle.
The ‘croissant candle’ has been making waves on social media, like TikTok, where it first gained popularity in the US. It quickly became a viral sensation but shoppers have had to wait patiently for it to head to the UK.
And, just as the weather cools and people are looking to get cosy at home, the candle that has made American homes smell like bakeries is now available in the UK. However, it’s flying off shelves so shoppers need to be fast.
In TK Maxx or Homesense stores, buyers will find the candle priced at £12.99. It is designed to resemble a loose pastry, which might cause some shoppers unaware of the trend a bit of confusion when they spot it on the shelves.
It’s part of the Goodies collection by DW Home. Shoppers are advised to check before purchasing as not all candles are the same, coming in two different scents – Sweet Butter and Salted Chocolate.
The double wick candle is described as blending “warm, salted butter with soft nuances of cane-sugar and fresh, creamy milk”. The chocolate version also includes ground pink Himalayan sea salt, reports the Mirror.
Alongside the croissant candle, there’s also a cinnamon roll candle and an ‘everything bagel’ candle, both of which are causing quite a stir among shoppers. However, it hasn’t passed the ‘sniff test’ with all shoppers as some “couldn’t put it back fast enough”.
One social media user claimed it made their home “smell like a bakery” while another hailed the fragrance as “unreal”. A third commented: “Finally a scented candle I can get on board with!”
Another shopper exclaimed: “Omg they are so cute!” A fifth confessed: “I fear this would be an immediate buy!”
However, not all feedback was positive, as one person cautioned: “They smell awful, I’m sorry. You’ll thank me, I promise!”
Another advised: “They all smelled incredible except for the bagel one, just trust me save your nose! It smelt like onion!”
One critic found the French pastry scent “too sweet”. But, in the end, they said they could see the item’s charm, saying: “I’d buy but not light!”
For those interested in checking out these candles, TK Maxx stores are stocking them, and you can locate your nearest shop using their online store locator. Homesense, which is under the TK Maxx umbrella, will also carry these candles, providing additional locations to find them – look up your closest here.
