A man was rescued by the Coastguard after getting into difficulty at a Co Down beach.

The incident occurred at Skippingstone Beach in Bangor around 9.45am on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the man was recovered to shore by the Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team.

The RNLI’s inshore lifeboat from Bangor was also tasked to the incident.

The NI Ambulance Service was at the scene and has been contacted for comment.
