Harry Kane has been blasted by German newspaper BILD despite his brilliant form for Bayern Munich.

The England international left Tottenham for the Allianz Arena last summer, with the 31-year-old moving in a huge £100million deal.

Kane has been brilliant in the time since, scoring 54 goals and clocking up 17 assists from just 52 appearances so far.

Yet he was unable to fire Bayern to silverware last term, with the German giants failing to secure glory in the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal.

Now, German newspaper BILD have criticised Kane after Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.

An article entitled ‘the bitter Kane truth’ has accused the striker of going missing in big matches far too often.

They also took aim at Kane after the Bayern star failed to register a shot on goal during the blockbuster showdown.

“Lots of effort, too little success,” said the column from journalist Walter Straten.

“Harry Kane is hanging around alone up front.

“What good are three goals against Kiel if he doesn’t even get a shot on goal in a big game like yesterday?

“Fairness dictates we shouldn’t unleash the Kane-can’t-win-a-title curse now.

“Especially since he had to leave injured.”

Kane was forced out of the showdown with an ankle problem in the closing stages as Bayern were forced to settle for a point.

He is now a doubt for their crunch Champions League clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday night (8pm).

Both teams will face off at Villa Park looking to maintain their 100 per cent records in the competition so far.

Bayern beat Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 on matchday one, with Kane scoring four goals.

Raphael Guerreiro, Michael Olise (x2), Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka were also on target.

As for Villa, they were far too strong for Swiss side FC Young Boys in their Champions League opener on September 17.

Youri Tielemans put them ahead in the 27th minute, with Jacob Ramsey then scoring 11 minutes later.

And Amadou Onana added gloss to the result late on as the midfielder continued his stunning start to life at Villa following his arrival from Everton earlier in the summer.

Bayern last faced Villa all the way back in 1982 in the final of the European Cup.

And it was the English side who clinched the trophy, with Peter Withe scoring the only goal of the game to make himself a club legend.
