NI traffic alerts: East Belfast crash cleared but delays remain

The vehicles involved in a road traffic collision on the A55 Upper Knockbreda Road Junction at the top of the Cregagh Road have been pushed to the side of the road. Both traffic lanes on the A55 approaching the Cregagh Road from the Forestside direction are open again. Traffic is moving but delays can still be expected in the area.

There is still significant queueing on the Westlink heading northbound coming up to 11am on Monday morning.

Delays resulting from the earlier crash near the M1 Applegreen have now cleared.

The earlier road traffic collision on the M1 Belfast-bound, approximately 1 mile from the Lisburn Applegreen Services has now been cleared.
Delays are still expected in the area.

Lane 2 is obstructed, but the incident is passable with care.
At 8am, delays were stretching back halfway between Sprucefield and Moira, and were also impacting traffic coming from the A1.

Emergency service colleagues are currently in attendance at a serious road traffic collision in Newtownabbey. O’Neill Road is closed between Antrim Road and Prince Charles Road roundabout, and police are advising road users to seek an alternative route.

The Clooney Road remains closed following a fatal crash this afternoon.

Due to a serious road traffic collision at the Clooney Road between Derry and Limavady this afternoon, diversions are in place at the Ballygudden Road roundabout at Eglington for Limavady-bound traffic and the Ballykelly Road roundabout at Limavady for Derry-bound traffic.

 

The Crom Road in Lisnaskea is currently closed due to a serious road traffic collision. Local diversions are in place and signposted, but police are advising road users to avoid the area.

Due to livestock on the A8 Belfast-bound carriageway near the Kilwaughter roundabout in Larne, police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Both lanes of the M2 have now been reopened after the earlier incident at J6, with lengthy delays slowly beginning to clear.

A two-vehicle crash citybound on the M2 at J6 Ratbeg is causing long delays. Both lanes have been blocked, with traffic directed to pass the incident using the on-slip. Queues are currently stretching back to the Dunsilly roundabout.

The barriers of the level crossing on William Street in Lurgan have malfunctioned and the road is blocked.
NI Railways engineers are on their way to incident – police are advising motorists to find an alternative route for their journey.

The Tannyoky Road in Poyntzpass is currently blocked due to a fallen telephone pole. Police are asking road users to seek other routes.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Just after 11.00am on Saturday, police received a report that a cattle trailer had overturned between junctions 11 and 12 of the M1 westbound. 
“A full closure of this section of the motorway was in place for around an hour, in order to secure the cattle. 
“No injury or damage to other vehicles was reported. 
“Traffic is now flowing as normal.”
