Dame Joan Collins has been in the limelight for the last seven decades and she has no plans on stopping soon. The Dynasty legend took to the BBC’s One Show last week to discuss her upcoming live performance, Behind the Shoulder Pads, at London’s Adelphi Theatre next month.
While the 91-year-old looked as glamorous as ever, we couldn’t get over her flawless skin. The actress and author has previously said that she hasn’t had any Botox, fat injections or any ‘tweakments’, opting to use natural methods instead of going under the knife to achieve her impeccable skin.
She previously told The Mirror: ‘I don’t go to bed without taking off my makeup and putting on night cream. My mother had me and sister Jackie doing that when we were 14.”
Joan revealed her bedtime skincare routine involves wiping off her makeup with a £5.50 Nivea cleanser, before applying a night cream by Charlotte Tilbury. She also her secret routine before attending red carpet events: “Before all big events and post-flights, I get a bowl of ice and cotton pads, cool the pads and place them on my eyes, then lie down for five minutes. It reduces puffiness and refreshes the eyes.”
The Charlotte Tilbury product loved by Joan, who starred in American Horror Story: Apocalypse back in 2018, is the £35 Magic Night Cream. Hailed as ‘beauty sleep in a decadent cream elixir’, the cream is said to feed skin hour by hour with intense moisture while you sleep.
It features a matrix of ingredients including plant stem cells, time released retinol, coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E to create supple, dewy and plump skin by morning. Over 90% of beauty buffs in a trial found their skin looks and feels firmer, according to the brand.
It’s not just Dame Joan that’s a fan of the Magic Night Cream, either. The ‘truly magic’ product boasts over 1,430 five-star ratings on the Charlotte Tilbury website. One shopper said: “I am so happy that I’ve bought this cream, it really is magic. I put it on my face before I got to sleep and in he morning I look fresh and happy.”
A second wrote: “I am 58 and this Night Cream truly is magic. I put it on every night before bed, and every morning I wake up with a plump, firm and luminous complexion. I add a little blush, gloss and mascara, Charlotte Tilbury, of course, and I’m ready for the day.”
Somebody else mentioned: “I bought the night cream after trying a sample. I have spent lots of money on creams before that have made all sorts of claims. This one delivers, my face is plumper and my skin just radiates. I am 62-years-old and I can see a very clear visible difference after using the night cream and also the eye cream.”
Among the three-star reviews, one shopper hailed the Magic Night Cream as ‘too heavy’ on the skin. They said: “I received a few samples of this night cream and I’m glad I decided to try before buying it as its not one for me. The gel like cream is thick. It felt heavy on my skin and left a greasy Vaseline like feel. It took a very long time to absorb and I ended up washing it off.”
But another loved their latest Charlotte Tilbury purchase, adding: “This is by far the best cream I have ever bought and I have tried them all. I love the texture and really spend time massaging it into my skin. I used to hate that first look in the mirror in the morning but not any more.”
“I am acne prone (even though I’m almost 50) and am also on lots of medications which really take their toll on my skin. I can honestly say I have never been happier with the results I get from using this cream, the Magic Day Cream and the Magic Eye Cream. They are on the pricey side but if I get the results, it’s worth it to me.”
