Fed up with the endless battle against grease and grime in your kitchen, only to see it return all too soon?
A lifestyle expert claims to have discovered the “secret” formula that will have your cooking space gleaming once again. TikTok user Home Remedies (@homeremedies), who provides their 35,000 followers with handy cleaning tips, has shared their latest recommendation.
In a recent video, they lay out steps to rejuvenate your kitchen on a shoestring budget. “This amazing cleaning hack will help you keep your kitchen spotless without spending money on expensive products,” wrote Home Remedies in a caption.
“With everyday household items, whip up an efficient cleaner that zaps through grease and dirt in an instant. This simple and economical method is perfect for anyone looking to save a penny!”
The clip begins with a bold claim: “This incredible trick will change your life,” asserting the ease and efficiency of the approach using common household items. The demonstration then kicks off with Home Remedies grating a bar of soap and transferring it into a pot. “Add the zest of one or two lemons,” they instruct.

They proceed to pour in approximately one cup [237ml] of dishwasher soap and two cups of water [473ml]. Continuing the process, Home Remedies suggests stirring the concoction over a low heat until it reaches a “homogeneous paste”. A cup of baking soda is then added, stirring further before taking the pan off the heat.
Next, Home Remedies recommends pouring the concoction into smaller containers and leaving it to set for a couple of hours. “That’s it – you have a powerful homemade cleaner,” they said with enthusiasm. “Use it with a sponge on pots, tiles, the stove, the extractor, walls… everything.”
They then showcased its effectiveness, revealing footage of it tackling the cooker hobs and shifting grease accumulation around the burners. “This preparation leaves a spectacular shine on everything it touches – especially metal and stainless steel utensils,” they said.
Moreover, Home Remedies claimed that the baking soda in the mix would act as a deterrent to flies on kitchen surfaces. “You will see the difference immediately and will be impressed with the result,” they guaranteed.
The demonstration concluded with the cleaner being effectively used on walls and an air fryer, easily dealing with accumulated filth. “I will try it, amazing! ” exclaimed an excited TikTok viewer. “Thank you so much, I will try it,” echoed a second. While another was equally complimentary, rating the hack as “10/10.”
