The funeral of a young boy who died after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer will take place in Magherafelt this afternoon.
Tony Fitzpatrick (9) died on Friday after being diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme in March.
A fundraiser to support his family raised over £100,000 in one day, and tributes have poured in following his passing.
The fundraiser described him as “kind, compassionate, witty and truly awesome.”
He is survived by his parents Mary and Darren, and his two siblings, Maggie and Kate.
Tony’s funeral will begin at his home at Oakvale Manor at 1:15pm, before a mass at 2pm at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.
Internment will take place following the mass at the cemetery of St John Milltown.
Tony was a member of the O’Donovan Rossa in Magherafelt, and attendees at the funeral have been asked to wear the club colours of red and white.
