Max O’Leary – 5
Will feel aggrieved by the goal-mouth tussle, which resulted in Swansea’s opener. His distribution let him down on a number of occasions as he looked to play long balls forward. Came to the rescue on the stroke of half-time as he denied Goncalo Franco’s powerful effort to deny a second for the hosts.
George Tanner – 6
Was contained for much of the first half and struggled to make any attacking runs down the right. But, like many others, grew into the game and linked-up really well with Sykes in the second period.
Zak Vyner – 5
Was very lucky not to contribute to a second goal for the hosts on 19 minutes. The centre-back was closed down by Ollie Cooper and his ball forward ricocheted off the Swans midfielder – with the ball beating O’Leary and hitting the post.
Luke McNally – 5
Made a couple of vital blocks and looked strong aerially. However, he couldn’t make much of an impact on the game going forward and was a bit wobbly in defence.
Haydon Roberts – 5 (Replaced on 58 minutes)
Didn’t produce the desired effect Manning would’ve hoped for. His attacking threat was limited as the game went on despite starting brightly. Will be hugely frustrated given his impressive performance against Oxford United last week.
Jason Knight – 7
A real captain’s performance and was everywhere when City held possession as he looked to carve open the Swans’ defence. Knight sparked massive celebrations in the away end as he was able to win his header against Harry Darling to convert Twine’s corner.
Max Bird – 6 (Replaced on 58 minutes)
Both Bird and Knight looked bright in the midfield. The 24-year-old looked strong as he used his power and athleticism in an attempt to open up the Swans. He appeared more comfortable having been moved into a more holding role and was one of his better performances in recent weeks.
Yu Hirakawa – 7 (Replaced on 58 minutes)
Was handed his first start of the season after standout cameos off the bench against Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United. And the winger didn’t disappoint as he was key to the majority of City’s play down the right-hand side. Looked a real threat and did cause Josh Tymon issues before being withdrawn on the hour mark.
Anis Mehmeti – 7
Played Armstrong through with a great ball in behind the Swans defence and was unlucky to not have a penalty awarded after seemingly being tripped in the box. The winger struggled to link-up play on the left wing in the first half but grew into the game and was a real threat during the second period.
Scott Twine – 6
Had a great chance to open the scoring very early on as he was denied by Vigouroux from close range. Opportunities did come for the summer arrival after he was moved to a more central role. His set-piece taking was disappointing for large parts – having failed to beat the first man on a number of occasions – but was able to find Knight with a great corner to equalise.
Sinclair Armstrong – 6 (Replaced on 68 minutes)
Hit the post in the first half and should’ve scored early on in the second period after he was stopped by Vigouroux following a powerful run into the box. Despite having plenty of chances to find his name on the scoresheet, Armstrong was isolated for much of the afternoon.
Cam Pring – 6 (On at 58 minutes)
Great competition now with Roberts at left-back. Looked very solid after his introduction on the hour mark and solidified the backline.
Joe Williams – 6 (On at 58 minutes)
First time the midfielder has started on the bench having been present in every starting XI this season. Came on as part of the triple chance and slotted in well next to Knight. A real boost after a difficult few weeks.
Mark Sykes – 6 (On at 58 minutes)
A real burst of energy following his introduction and could’ve scored too. Great play by Mehmeti saw his cross find the winger, who was denied by Vigouroux, just before City levelled.
Nahki Wells – 5 (On at 68 minutes)
Used his experience well and could’ve got on the end of a spill by Vigouroux.
Fally Mayulu – N/A (On at 86 minutes)
