Andy Murray has ripped into the ‘Six Kings Slam’ exhibition event featuring the world’s top players after it received high praise for its promotional trailer on social media.

Saudi Arabia is beginning to make the move into tennis having already taken a foothold in major sports such as golf, boxing and football.

An agreement was reached a few months ago for the WTA Finals to be held in Saudi Arabia for the next three years.

The ATP Tour also announced a ‘strategic partnership’ with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund back in February.

Earlier that month it was revealed that Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal would be heading to Riyadh to feature in a new tennis event called ‘Six Kings Slam’.

Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune were the other three names confirmed for the event.

Anticipation for the exhibition event reached fever pitch on Saturday when Saudi sporting chief Turki Alalshikh published a movie-like five-minute promotional trailer.

Alcaraz featured as an android on a court while a clay-like figure was formed into the shape of Nadal.

The event starts on October 16 with all six players guaranteed a minimum of ยฃ1.2million for taking part.

The epic trailer caught the attention of tennis fans from all over the world with the clip watched millions of times.

British star Liam Broady was full of praise for the trailer and felt it was one of the best promos he’s ever seen.

He wrote on X: “Speechless as to how damn cool this promo is.

“Probably best I’ve ever seen in tennis. Would watch this movie. 10/10.”

But Murray, who retired from professional tennis after the Paris Olympics, wasn’t sold on the trailer.

The three-time major champion went on to take aim at the event as nothing more than an exhibition event that won’t live up to the hype.

He replied: “Except itโ€™s not a movie and you wonโ€™t watch it because itโ€™s an exhibition tennis event that nobody cares about.”

Broady jokingly bit back at Murray, adding: “Omfg man why you so negative.”
