Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returning to the Royal Family as working members would be “completely impractical” and cause a “circus” for the monarchy, it has been claimed.
The Duke of Sussex is set to return to British soil tomorrow to attend the WellChild Awards in London, a cause close to the estranged royal’s heart.
Following a string of solo engagements in New York without his wife, questions have been raised as to whether it is the right time for the Sussexes to make amends with the Royal Family and return to the working Firm.
Hitting out at the couple, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams claimed that Harry and Meghan “can’t be trusted” and would cause a “circus” at every royal engagement they attend, drawing the attention away from the monarchy.

Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams argued: “They don’t want to come back. You’re dealing with an institution that is so serious, if they actually came back you’d have a circus.
“Every single royal event that involved the Sussexes, you’d have the focus on them and it would, in reality, be completely impractical.”
Noting the ongoing royal rift between the Sussexes and the monarchy, Fitzwilliams added that unless Harry and Meghan “apologise” for the way they have behaved, there would be “absolutely no way” of a return to working life.
Fitzwilliams said: “If you consider in the past four years they’ve conducted a guerrilla war against the Royal Family, and they’ve done enormous damage to it. When did the Sussexes last say something that was favourable about the Royal Family?

“They’d want an apology for the way that Harry believed Meghan was badly treated when they were senior working royals. So there’s no way they are going to come back, they don’t want to. They’re happy in California, supposedly, and most certainly on the issue of trust, who would trust them?”

In defence of Harry and Meghan, former royal gardener Jack Stooks argued that the Sussexes have done “nothing wrong” in their criticism of the Royal Family, and all they have done is “be themselves”.
Stooks argued: “Harry chose to marry Meghan. Everybody has an opinion and everybody’s entitled to that opinion, like them or loathe them. But they haven’t been given a ban on not coming back to England.
“So if they want to come back to England, let them come back to England. If they don’t want to come back to England again, they don’t need to. It is their lives. If Harry is is coming back and wants to see his family, why shouldn’t he be allowed to do that?”
Interjecting Stooks, Fitzwilliams claims that the royal rift is “so bad” between Harry and his brother William that there is “no conversation” happening at the moment.

Fitzwilliams told GB News: “I’m afraid the rift is so bad that there’s a lot of speculation – we don’t know whether they talk privately to each other, how would we? But there most certainly is not a conversation at the moment publicly between William and Harry.
“This was obvious at Lord Fellowes’s memorial service. They were both at the back of the church and reportedly didn’t say a word to each other. And if that was the case, that they wanted to come back, what was arranged at the Sandringham Agreement would have to be looked at again.”
Fitzwilliams continued: “And that would mean that Sussexes would have their cake and eat it, so to speak, because they could do the commercial projects along with royal activities. It’s a question of whether or not they would want to do royal duties. They wanted half in, half out – you can’t renegotiate that, because that isn’t being royal.
“The Royal Family is a serious institution, it’s pivotal to our unwritten constitution. It’s a symbol of national unity. This would be ridiculous.”
