A veteran high school teacher working in the York Catholic District School Board is accused of sexually assaulting a teen student.
In a news release issued Friday afternoon, York Regional Police did not name the school to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
Police said an investigation began on June 5 when the student reported being sexually assaulted by a teacher.
“The accused has been working as a high school teacher for 22 years and for five years with the York Catholic District School Board,” police said.
Tony Paniccia, 47, of Toronto, faces three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual exploitation and one count of luring a child.
