A woman has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Co Derry this afternoon.
She has been named as 84-year-old Joyce Taggart from the Ballykelly area.
Tributes quickly flooded in on social media, including from a local cafe owner who said Ms Taggart had given her a hug earlier that day, evidence of her kind nature, as noted by other commenters.
Another poster said Ms Taggart was the “loveliest lady” while it was also noted that she was a “beautiful lady inside and out”.
One post read: “She was a remarkable lady and was an absolutely incredible baker. Always loved getting shortbread from her. My heartfelt condolences go out to Heather, David, and the entire family circle. Rest in peace, dear Joyce.”
Inspector Cherith Adair from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report shortly after 2.15pm of a collision involving a bus and car on the Clooney Road. Officers attended, alongside our colleagues from other emergency services but sadly, Mrs Taggart, who was the driver of the car sadly died at the scene.
