Highly concerning rock-throwing incidents continue to pile up in the Greater Toronto Area.
Last Friday, Ontario Provincial Police in Aurora received three separate reports of rocks being “deliberately thrown at moving vehicles by a passing vehicle or person.”
Police said one of the incidents resulted in a serious two-vehicle crash in which two people suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police said in a news release one week later that similar incidents have been reported to authorities since the initial three.
On Sept. 12 at about 10:25 p.m., police said a vehicle was traveling south on Hwy. 48 near Stoufville Rd. when it was struck by a rock, smashing the driver’s side headlight.
That same night — about five minutes later — police said a vehicle travelling north on Hwy. 48 near Elgin Mills was struck by a rock, damaging the driver’s side-view mirror.
Police have released photos related to the incident.
On Sept. 20 at about 10:30 p.m., police said a rock struck a vehicle traveling north on Hwy. 48 just past Major Mackenzie Dr., damaging the driver’s side-view mirror.
The Sept. 20 incident that included the two-vehicle crash happened at about 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 48 and Major Mackenzie Dr.
OPP released videos earlier this week, asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicles.
“The OPP believe these incidents are all linked to the same vehicle and person,” they said on Friday.
