Lewis Hamilton has led the tributes for Daniel Ricciardo online after the Australian driver was axed by RB with six races remaining in the season.
Ricciardo, who once looked like a potential world champion at the peak of his powers, saw his F1 career brought to an abrupt halt this week.
There were heavy rumours last week that the Singapore Grand Prix was going to be Ricciardo’s last.
The 35-year-old cut an emotional figure after the race with his departure confirmed four days later.

Ricciardo appeared to suggest on social media that he was walking away from F1 for good.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’ve loved this sport my whole life. It’s wild and wonderful and been a journey.
“To the teams and individuals that have played their part, thank you. To the fans who love the sport sometimes more than me haha thank you.
“It’ll always have its highs and lows but it’s been fun and truth be told I wouldn’t change it.
“Until the next adventure.”
His post was inundated with supportive messages from his fans and liked by close to three million users.
And Hamilton was among those to put up a sympathetic message for his former rival.
Hamilton wrote: “Legend.”
