SASKATOON — Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Justice says a Crown prosecutor will be seeking to have a girl accused of setting her schoolmate on fire sentenced as an adult if she is convicted.

The 14-year-old faces four charges including attempted murder and arson.

A15-year-old victim was lit on fire on Sept. 5 at Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon and a teacher who tried to put out the flames was also injured.

A witness has said a girl poured liquid on another girl before setting her on fire in the school’s hallway.

The victim’s family has said she has a long recovery ahead.

The accused is set be back in provincial court on Oct. 25.
