Hamilton Police are probing a series of robberies they say started with the victims being lured on dating app Grindr.
The robberies happened between Aug. 22 and 29 on Hamilton Mountain.
Police say several arrests have been made in connection with the robberies but cops are looking to identify additional suspects and have released images.
In a news release, police said “several victims were lured through the Grindr app, an adult-only dating app, only to be ambushed and extorted by the suspects who had misrepresented themselves on the platform.”
Grindr advertises itself as “the world’s largest social networking app for gay, bi, trans, and queer people.”
“Police acknowledge the sensitive nature of these crimes, and are appealing to the public for any help in identifying the responsible parties,” police said in a release.
