Marks and Spencer has delighted shoppers with its new festive candle that “just screams cosy”. It is causing excitement in Facebook’s Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group in particular.
The £10 Light Up Scented Candle has won over fans with its pleasant design featuring Scottish landmarks underneath a wintery sky. The high street giant describes the candle as “soothing and relaxing” online, highlighting its combination of neroli, lime, and bergamot for a “fresh and invigorating scent”.
The full online description says: “This Marks and Sparkle candle is inspired by the historic sites of Scotland. It lights up when the wick is lit, revealing a magical winter scene featuring iconic Scottish landmarks.”
Shoppers were quick to point out the Scottish theme as a newcomer among other existing designs based on London and New York. Priced the same as the others at £10, shoppers were quick to dish out their praise for the line-up of candles that are ideal for Christmas displays or as gifts, reports the Daily Record.
Some comments from the Facebook group advised potential buyers to snap them up quickly while stocks last. One impressed person commented: “How pretty, I love these new designs!”
Another said: “Getting me well and truly in the Christmas spirit. Don’t care that it’s still September, need them all!” Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Ah! This just screams cosy nights in to me!!”
An equally delighted shopper praised the item on the M&S website. In their review, they said: “Very pretty candle, I think it will look stunning when it’s lit. The price was reasonable and the detail of the glass holder is stunning. I’m really happy with this candle and would definitely recommend it.”
Another said: “So pleased to see this back in store as I bought it last year and loved it. The smell is gorgeous and lots of visitors said how Christmassy it was.”
However, a less impressed buyer reported: “Disappointed that the design is not etched onto the glass. It’s just a transparent wrap on the outside.”

If you’re in the market for a new seasonal candle to brighten up your Christmas, there’s also an option available at Next. Their Red Festive Spice Scented Candle costs £10 and offers a wintry scene that can be illuminated even without the candle burning using LED lights
When the candle is in use, the room should become a charming aroma mix of red berries, orange, cinnamon and patchouli. Also, Next is also selling a Light Up Gingerbread Candle for £10, guaranteed to fill your home with the sweet scent of ‘freshly baked treats’ blending crystallised ginger, cinnamon, maple, nutmeg and molten sugar flavours.
Dunelm is offering its own selection of holiday-themed candles currently on promotion. The fragrances listed include Winter Air, Cinnamon Clove and Winter Tree, all priced at £6 under their Special Buy deal (at the time of writing).
Candle lovers are being warned to remember that these cute festive purchases can quickly turn into a disaster if you don’t follow proper fire safety precautions. Most come with a disclaimer to keep away from flammable materials – which is an even bigger risk at Christmas with lots of decorations about.
