Cadillac’s all-new entry-level luxury EV, the 2025 Optiq, will start at $59,999 when it goes on sale in Canada towards the end of 2024, the automaker said late September. With fees like freight and PDI, the base trims, Sport 1 or Luxury 1, come to $63,298 all-in, before any applicable government rebates (Cadillac noted the Optiq will qualify for federal incentives).
The other two higher trims available are the imaginatively named Sport 2 and Luxury 2, which both come with an MSRP of $63,999, or $67,298 after fees. All four trims of the 2025 Optiq come only in all-wheel-drive, though a single-motor FWD is rumoured to be on the way.
The 2025 Cadillac Optiq should offer a battery range of about 482 km (300 miles) per charge, the company says, and is based on General Motors’ Ultium EV platform. Its charge comes from a 85-kWh battery pack, and power is channelled through two electric motors with a combined output of 300 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.
It will be a global model sold around the world, and has in fact already hit the market in China. The Optiqs you’ll see on Canadian roads – they’ll be in dealerships in late 2024, but you can place your order now – will be built in Mexico, starting this fall.
The Optiq is the fourth all-electric model on offer from Cadillac, with its closest sibling being the slightly larger Lyriq, also a five-seat crossover SUV, albeit with six inches more wheelbase and a price tag of almost $70,000 in Canada. The other EVs in the luxury marque’s range include the full-size Escalade IQ SUV; and the ultra-luxury Celestiq, a handbuilt halo car with a price tag exceeding $400,000. The three-row 2026 Cadillac Vistiq SUV is expected to go into production in 2025.
