B&M might just be the saving grace for beauty fans this Christmas. With luxury brands often costing an arm and a leg, it’s no surprise that savvy shoppers are turning to more economical alternatives to keep their wallets happy.
One eagle-eyed shopper in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group couldn’t contain their excitement and shared: “Charlotte Tilbury Fans, RUN for these amazing [alternative] sets for a fraction of the price! Perfect Christmas prezzie.”
They shared a photo of what fellow bargain hunters should be looking for with a purse-friendly £2.99 lip kit available at Home Bargains, which appears to take on a higher-end counterpart. In addition, there was a £5.99 ‘Enchanting Radiance’ gift set by Face Facts from B&M.
This three-item collection includes a 50ml Wonder Cream, an 80ml Weightless Setting Spray, and a 15ml Liquid Matte Blush. The online blurb reads: “Experience the ultimate skincare indulgence with our Enchanting Radiance Gift Set. Enhance your glow with complexion essentials.”
Beauty enthusiasts have been quick to point out the resemblances between these items and similar offerings from the renowned brand created by English beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury. When you measure up the costs, it’s immediately obvious which option is gentler on your wallet, reports the Mirror.
With the Charlotte Tilbury trio – being the Magic Cream (50ml), Flawless Setting Spray (100ml) and Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand coming in at a steep £141, opting for B&M’s budget-friendly kit could net a substantial saving of £135.
Shoppers were quick to take notice of the deal, seeing it as the perfect gift to put aside for Christmas. Some even considered treating themselves to a bit of self-pampering.
One excited customer tagged their friend, saying: “We need to try and if good buy loads!”. Another shopper said: “As a mum with make-up obsessed girls thank you!”
A third shared their plans to “try it out” in hopes it could be a substitute for their more expensive cosmetics. Meanwhile, another added: “Hopefully it’s as good as it looks!”
With Barclays data indicating that consumers in 2024 view health and beauty purchases as “essential”, it’s clear why many are looking to cut costs on their beauty regimen. The study highlighted a strong demand for products that offer a sense of luxury without the hefty price tag.
Barclays also discovered that nearly one-third of those surveyed (32%) are opting for less expensive alternatives to items like fragrances, makeup, and other beauty products as a way to economise amidst the soaring cost of living.
Bargain hunters often share their budget-friendly discoveries from retailers such as BandM, Home Bargains, and Primark. These finds frequently become sensations on social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok.
