One man faces multiple serious charges after four people were seriously injured on OC Transpo on Monday. Investigators believe there could be other victims from additional incidents.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, police and OC Transpo special constables responded to a call for an assault in progress involving multiple passengers, the Ottawa Police Service said in a press statement.

“It was later learned that the suspect had assaulted four people while uttering hate-filled comments aboard various OC Transpo buses and trains between the Algonquin College and Bayview stations,” police said.

The four victims sustained serious injuries.

Errol Rose, 26, of Ottawa, is facing numerous charges, two counts of assault, five counts of mischief, two counts of assault with a weapon, as well as single counts of aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon, uttering threats, and violating the conditions of a release order.

Rose is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service at 613-236-1222 ext. 5051.

“We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police,” police said. “Reporting hate-motivated incidents is an important step in stopping cycles of hatred.”
