A new online pint tracker has come to town to help punters know exactly what they’re getting themselves into when ordering a pint of Guinness in Belfast – as well as Dublin.

Last month, a user called r/weebrew on the social news forum Reddit launched a website for stout lovers and money savers, called pinttracker.com.

Other users have been invited to contribute prices of pints of Guinness (or similar stout equivalents) with receipts, to help customers see where the dearest and cheapest pints of the black stuff can be located in both cities.

There are still over 100 bars to be categorised, but the pint tracker is already proving useful for locals and visiting tourists alike.

As of today, the most expensive pint of G in Belfast can be found in the Europa Hotel, for £7.

The cheapest so far discovered has been the Irish National Foresters Club, situated on the outskirts of the city centre at Albert Street, where a scrumptious stout can be secured for just £4.

Most of the more affordable pints seem to be in and around the likes of social clubs, adjoining bars to sports clubs, or pubs outside of the city centre – such as the 3 C’s Social Club (£4.20), Falls Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club (£4.15), and The Cosy Bar (£4.50).

Pints have gotten pricier and pricier in recent years, along with everything else in the current cost-of-living crisis.

Last winter, Sunday Life found that the most expensive pint of Guinness could be found in the cosy Spaniard, within the cobbled, tourist-laden streets of the Cathedral Quarter, where £6.20 was required.

The norm is well above that now, with most city centre establishments costing around £6.50 for a pint, including The Deer’s Head, The Dark Horse and The Harp Bar.
