• The numbers are in, and the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla will start at $47,915 in Canada
  • An eight-speed automatic transmission is available for the first time, and is a $2,200 option
  • This new-and-improved little hot hatch should go on sale in Canada by the end of the year

Toyota has finally plastered a sticker price on its 2025 GR Corolla — you know, the one now available with a new eight-speed automatic transmission? In Canada, MSRPs will be $47,915 for the entry-level Core trim, though that sum rises to just over 51 large when including non-negotiables such as freight and PDI charges, barring any markups by greedy dealers.

Upgrading to the Premium trim also brings a significant walk in price, with the numbers rising to $55,917, or just shy of 60 big ones including fees. This is the model in which folks will be able to spec the automatic transmission, an option we’ve just learned will add about $2,200 to the total bill. Reasons for going auto are myriad, we suppose, though writers in this office will gladly take the extra engagement of a stick over an automatic any day, no matter how good those paddles are — tenths of a second to 100 km/h be damned. And we will pocket the difference to set towards new tires, thankyouverymuch.

As a reminder, a new price and transmission option aren’t the only improvements hove at the GR Corolla for this 2025 model year. The roarty 1.6L turbocharged three-cylinder engine continues to make 300 horsepower, but now belts out 295 lb-ft of torque, twenty-two more than last year. Its suspension has been tweaked with different spring rates, which apparently suppresses “inner wheel lift” during spirited driving.

Models with the automatic also come with launch control, though bedwetting and pencil-necked lawyers at Toyota exhort it isn’t meant for road use. The front bumper has also been opened up for better airflow, including a hike in cooling for the brake ducts, which were also redesigned for 2025.

It is expected the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla will appear in showrooms before the end of this year.
