NI traffic alerts: M1 closed in both directions due to ‘ongoing incident’

The earlier incident on the A26 Frosses Road between the Kilraughts Road roundabout and Kirk Road junction has now been cleared and the road has reopened.

The Frosses Road in Ballymoney was closed between the Kirk Road and its junction with the Kilraughts Road roundabout in the early hours of this morning due to a serious road traffic collision. Police said closures were likely to be in place overnight, with local diversions in place.

Road Users are advised that the A24 Saintfield Rd has been reopened in both directions following an earlier road traffic collision.

The Boa Island Road, Belleek has been closed due to a road traffic collision. Local diversions are in place and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.

The Saintfield Road in Castlereagh is currently closed in both directions near its junctions with the Cairnshill Road and the Purdysburn Road following a two-vehicle road traffic collision. 

Diversions are in place, but traffic is heavy and motorists can expect delays.

The Killyman Road outside Dungannon has now reopened to motorists following an earlier road traffic collision. 

The Manse Road has been closed in Castlereagh, from Church Road to Rocky Road, due to a burst water main.

A diversion is in place via Ballygowan Rd, A55, Saintfield Rd, Newton Park, plus additional diversions are in place for locals.

The Glencregagh Road has also been closed and local diversions are in place.

The closure will be in place until tomorrow morning.

Drivers are warned to expect major delays within the area and are asked to find an alternative route.

The Killyman Road outside Dungannon is currently closed due to a road traffic collision. 
Drivers are advised to take another route for their journey, if possible.

The Lisburn Road in Moira has fully reopened to motorists following an earlier road traffic collision.  

There are ongoing traffic delays in the Lisburn Road area of Moira due to a road traffic collision this evening. Police are advising road users to seek alternative routes.

The Westlink has now fully reopened to road users following an earlier road traffic collision this morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The Westlink is closed at its junction with the Grosvenor Road, Westbound near Roden Street due to a road traffic collision this morning, Monday 16th September.

 “Traffic is being diverted via Divis Street – please seek an alternative route for your journey if possible.”

The Leathemstown Road in Dundrod is closed between the junctions with Tullyrusk Road and Hannahstown Road following a serious road traffic collision. Police are advising road users to seek alternative routes.

The Moat Road has reopened following a fatal crash.

The Moat Road in Lisnaskea is currently closed due to a serious road traffic collision. 

Trafficwatch NI posted at 6.30pm: “M2- delays heading Northward due to an incident at Yorkgate – traffic effected back along the M1, M3 and Westlink – CLEARED”.

A PSNI statement said: “Forthill Street in Enniskillen has re-opened following a fire at a derelict hotel in the area. An update will follow in due course.”

The Forthill Street road in Enniskillen is currently closed due to a fire at a derelict hotel. The PSNI and fire service are in attendance. The PSNI has urged the public to avoid the area and seek alternative routes for their journey. Forthill Street is likely to be closed for some time while emergency services deal with this incident.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Spokesperson said: “NIFRS crews are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Forthill Street, Enniskillen.  At present there are nine fire appliances and 43 personnel carrying out firefighting operations. We would advise members of the public to avoid the area where possible and nearby homeowners to keep their windows and doors closed.”
