A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a murder inside a Richmond Hill home Saturday morning.

York Regional Police say officers were called just before 8:30 a.m. for a welfare check at a residence in the area of Gracedale Dr. and Shaftsbury Ave., near Elgin Mills Rd. and Yonge St.

Police say when officers arrived at the scene, they found a dead adult in the home.

The Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

Cops initially appealed to the public for help finding a suspect – identified as Henry Ai – who they described as Asian, 6-foot-2, with a thin build, short black hair and brown eyes.

But cops later revealed the Richmond Hill man was taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m.

“There is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement released Saturday afternoon. “Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.”

“The identity of the deceased is not being released until the post mortem has been completed and the next of kin have been notified,” cops added.
