Bake to the future

Whether you don’t know your assiette of desserts from a chocolate éclair, one thing is certain: it’s almost time for Bake Off.

The hit culinary show will once again offer a series of tasks within dough business for contestants to tackle, triumph and hopefully get a Hollywood handshake.

From September 24, expect one night a week to be filled with all sorts of delicious cakes, breads, pies and everything in between.

In honour of the show’s return, we’ve selected some brilliant baking accoutrements. Of course, you won’t need all of them, arguably any of them, but that doesn’t stop us from adding to an online cart.

Besides, there’s something very sweet about an impromptu afternoon tea, even if the scones come from a supermarket and all you’ve done is scoop jam and clotted cream into ramekins.

From pretty plates to tantalising teacups – because Earl Grey tastes especially delicious when consumed from a china cup – there’s plenty to get your Bake Off on. And even if Prue and Paul aren’t available to critique, that simply means more cake for you and your guests to go around.
