Nine in ten say Y2K popular culture has come back into fashion with almost a quarter of current teens believing it would have been a simpler time to be young, before social media was prevalent. Research has revealed the best things about the decade, with Harry Potter, Big Brother, Timberland boots, iPods, flip-phones and Pokémon all making the list.

One in four people polled by Magners, would love to transport back to the 2000s if they could. Seven percent of current drinking age teens also say they are embracing the pub drink of the noughties, cider and blackcurrant.

Other foods that are giving the nation a nostalgic boost include Freddos and Capri-Sun. “This research shows how much the nation loves the 2000s,” says Iain Telford, Brand Lead at Magners Irish Cider.

“As younger Brits are embracing everything from bandanas and crimped hair to pop-punk and waistcoats, here’s to reliving the spirit of the 2000s and making new memories.”

Half of the older Brits surveyed believe that youngsters are trying to emulate the style of the decade with graphic t-shirts, Ugg boots, skinny jeans, cropped tops and t-shirts and large hoop earrings.

Noughties TV shows are helping to bring the decade back into fashion with Gossip Girl, Gavin and Stacey, Doctor Who and The Office among the most popular.
