Edmonton police found human remains this past weekend in Parkland County that have been positively identified as 32-year-old Aylissa Rovere, who went missing earlier this month.

Detectives have now charged a man with second-degree murder in the death of Rovere, a mother of two from Edmonton.

On Sept. 13, the Edmonton Police Service requested the public’s assistance in locating Rovere and, through the course of the investigation, police began to suspect she had met with foul play, police said in a Tuesday news release. The EPS homicide section took over the investigation.

Over the weekend, investigators executed a search warrant at a property in Parkland County where human remains were found.

A Monday autopsy confirmed the remains to be of Rovere, and the manner of death was determined to be a homicide. Police are withholding the cause of death for investigative reasons.

Collin Boucher-Gionet, 34, was arrested by RCMP Tuesday evening and is charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body. Police said the two were in an intimate relationship.
