Donald Trump was the subject of a second attempted assassination yesterday, with questions now mounting over the competency of intelligence community – so, do you think the former US President has been left at risk by the US Secret Service?

The Republican presidential candidate was declared safe after what the FBI said appeared to be an assassination attempt on Sunday while he was golfing on his course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Law enforcement officials said during an afternoon press conference that the gunman was in some bushes near the property line of the golf course when Secret Service agents, who were clearing holes ahead of where Trump was playing, spotted a rifle barrel in the bushes.

The gunman managed to get within about 400 to 500 yards from where Trump was playing, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.

Questions were raised over the US Secret Service when trump was targeted by a lone gunman in July too.

On that occasion, a gunman was able to make it onto a nearby roof and fire his gun at Trump, grazing his ear.

After the glaring security lapse, Kimberly Cheatle resigned as Secret Service director under bipartisan congressional pressure.

The US Secret Service’s new acting director said in August that he was “ashamed” of the agency’s failure in the incident.

So, has Donald Trump been put at risk by the US Secret Service? Vote in our poll above.
