The reigning Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Calgary Canucks are set to kick off their 2024-25 season with three big events.

The Canucks hit the ice for their home opener on Saturday (5 p.m.), then host the AJHL ShowcaseSept. 25-28 featuring a highly anticipated Battle of Alberta: An Evening with Legends event.

Calgary hosts the Canmore Eagles on Saturday at Ken Bracko Arena in the Max Bell Centre in the back half of a two-day home-and-home series to start the season. The Canucks’ home opener will feature 2024-25 player introductions, live performances from The Frontiers, DJs and giveaways.

The AJHL Showcase brings together all 16 AJHL teams for four days of hockey action. Hosted by the Calgary Canucks for the second consecutive year, the Showcase provides a platform for players to perform in front of scouts from the NHL, NCAA and Canadian universities. The Canucks, coupled with the energy of the Calgary hockey community, has helped this event grow into one of the league’s marquee events.

As part of the Showcase, the Canucks are thrilled to host the Battle of Alberta: An Evening with Legends on Sept. 26 in the Champions Ballroom at Stampede Park. This year’s banquet will be emceed by renowned NHL broadcaster Kelly Hrudey and features Hockey Hall of Fame goaltenders Mike Vernon and Grant Fuhr. Last year’s sold-out legends event attracted more than 1,000 attendees.

This special event comes on the heels of the Canucks’ incredible run, culminating in their 2024 AJHL championship and a strong showing at the Centennial Cup, where they finished third in the nation.
