Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are set to face off in the first televised presidential debate between the pair as the race for the White House heats up.
Tonight’s debate will see the sitting Vice President go up against the former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Having swiftly put an end to Joe Biden’s chances of running for a second term after the current President suffered a disastrous performance during a debate in June.
Tonight, Trump will seek to pin several of Biden’s failings on his Democratic rival including illegal immigration at America’s southern border and the high cost of living as the US economy continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Harris’s strategy on the other hand will reflect on Trump’s previous tenure in office and his history of dishonesty and dysfunction which led to the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
The rules will be the same as when Trump debated Biden two months ago meaning microphones will be muted, there will be no pre-written notes, no live audience, no sitting and no speaking with campaign staff during commercial breaks.

A crowd has gathered near the site of the US presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Republican Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris prepared to meet for the first time on Tuesday night in their only scheduled debate of the US presidential campaign, a key moment in a close-fought contest.
The nationally televised debate beginning at 9pm ET (0200 BST, Wednesday) takes place just eight weeks before the November 5 election, and days before early voting will start in some states.
Presidential debates do not necessarily change voters’ minds, but they can transform the dynamics of a race.
Biden’s performance against Trump in June was so damaging that it eventually led him to abandon his campaign.
