Cristiano Ronaldo has, somewhat typically, made history once more.

The 39-year-old became the first player to score 900 goals on Thursday night, with the Al-Nassr star netting Portugal’s second goal of the game in their 2-1 Nations League win over Croatia.

It is a testemant to his quality and professionalism that Ronaldo has reached the milestone in a career that has lasted for over 20 years.

We’ll now take a look at the four deadliest seasons from his time in the sport so far.

Ronaldo’s rivalry with Lionel Messi was at it’s peak when the veteran bagged a stunning 61 goals in the 2014/2015 season.

However, despite his stunning exploits, it actually ended up being a rather disappointing season for Real Madrid.

They finished second in LaLiga and were sent crashing out of the Copa del Rey, while also being forced to settle for runners-up in the Spanish Super Cup.

They made the semi-finals of the Champions League, only to end up losing to Juventus. Fierce rivals Barcelona would claim a treble, though Real did at least win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

60 goals in 2011/2012

Jose Mourinho has long had a reputation as a defensive manager.

But that wasn’t the case in the 2011/2012 campaign, with Real Madrid playing full-throttle, attacking football as they won LaLiga.

Ronaldo’s goals were key to that, with the veteran bagging 60 from 55 matches across all competitions – with 34 of those coming in LaLiga.

They also missed out on Champions League glory, with Bayern eliminating them from the competition in the semi-finals following a tense penalty shootout.

55 goals in 2012/2013

Mourinho’s final season at Real Madrid didn’t go to plan.

He fell out with heavyweights of the dressing room, such as Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, as the Spanish giants imploded.

But Ronaldo continued to produce the goods, with his 55 goals helping the team finish as runners-up in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.

Mourinho would lose his job in the summer of 2013, with Carlo Ancelotti appointed as his replacement.

Mourinho’s first campaign in the dugout saw Ronaldo really get going for Real.

He netted 53 times across all competitions, which is 20 more than he’d managed under Manuel Pellegrini during his maiden season at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo, once again, would miss out on LaLiga glory.

But his terrific header was enough to wreck Barcelona’s hopes of winning the Copa del Rey in the final of that competition, with Ronaldo scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.
