Translink has said they are planning on revolutionising public transport in Northern Ireland as they gear up to open a £340 million station which is larger than London’s King Cross.
Belfast Grand Central Station will begin its phased opening from Sunday when it welcomes the first bus passenger on their services.
From Monday, bus services will officially relocate from the Europa Bus Station to the new station located in the Weavers Cross area.
The new station will be the largest integrated transport hub on the island of Ireland and will feature retailers such as M&S, Brewdog and Pret a Manger within it – with the hope it becomes a thriving retail centre.
However, the company has remained tight-lipped on the date of the opening of the highly anticipated rail operation – which a spokesperson said will open “before Christmas”.
The rail service will see platforms double from the former Great Victoria Street station from 4 to 8 with bus stands increasing from 17 to 26.
