The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday the team has signed receiver Austin Mack to a four-year extension through 2028.

Mack returned to the CFL last week after being released from the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons on Aug. 12, and has come to realize his future lies in Montreal.

“I’m ready to make that next step for sure,” Mack told The Gazette last week after his first practice with the Als. “Once that’s done, I’m all in.

“Knowing the situation with my family, returning was a no-brainer. I’m looking for stability. Bouncing around and trying to find a home isn’t the best thing for them. My family comes first.”

In his first game back with the Alouettes on Sunday, Mack caught three passes for 32 yards in a comeback win over Edmonton.

Last season, his first in the CFL after stints with the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers, Mack was named a CFL all-star, catching 78 passes for 1,154 yards and four touchdowns.

“Austin is an important part of this team, and we just proved it with this agreement,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a team statement. “This receiver has shown great chemistry on the field both with our quarterbacks and his other teammates. We are very excited that he will be an Alouette for many years.”
