Noni Madueke has apologised to Wolves fans after calling them ‘s**t’ on his Instagram account before his Chelsea hat-trick against them on Sunday.

The forward netted a sublime treble, with Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Joao Felix also on target, as the Blues secured their first victory since the appointment of Enzo Maresca as manager earlier in the summer.

Madueke was unplayable, with the 22-year-old drowning out boos from Wolves fans as he fired his team to a 6-2 victory.

The Chelsea star was asked about his social media message after the victory, with the winger then proceeding to apologise to Wolves and their supporters.

“I just want to apologise to everyone that I might have offended,” he said.

“It is just a human mistake, an accident. It wasn’t meant to be out on my socials like that. I’m sure Wolverhampton is a nice town and I’m sorry.

“In terms of the boos I expected it but it is part of the game.

“You have to be able to play under that sort of pressure.”

Madueke also hailed Maresca while looking ahead to Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League clash with Servette later this week.

“It is obvious [ his approach]. Everyone saw what he did at Leicester last year, he is mad about the details,” he continued.

“Even in the first game against Manchester City there were some nice patterns of play but we just couldn’t finish it off.

“It is a great day today, I am happy he has got his first Premier League win for Chelsea and we go onto midweek in Geneva.”

As for Maresca himself, the Chelsea boss praised his team for their second half performance.

Both teams had gone into half time with the fixture hanging in the balance at 2-2.

But Chelsea were outstanding after the break as they secured victory at Molineux.

Maresca said: “In the second half we changed something and it was better.

“I thought the intention in the first half was good but we lost four or five easy balls from set-pieces and counter attacks.

“The second half was completely different and we didn’t lose any balls and were in control of the game.

“The tactical plan in the second half was the same but we were a bit more accurate in the second half and didn’t give away any easy balls.”

On whether Chelsea can play like that every week, the Italian added: “That is the intention but there are teams there that want the same so it’s not easy.

“In the first 10 minutes we created two or three chances and scored a goal and then we started to lose the ball, but overall a good performance.

“Absolutely there always things we can improve on. We can learn many things.”
